  13.     The VIA AGP VxD Driver supports the functions accodring to Microsoft AGP 
  14.   Software Specification Rev 1.5. This specification describes the interface
  15.   between AGP Master and onboard memory.

  29. System Requirements

  31. This driver should be installed on a system with the VIA AGP chipset,
  32. VT82C597 or later, and others' chipsets will not be supported. The VIA AGP VxD
  33. Driver is only supported by Windows 95 OSR 2.1 (4.00.950 B) or later version.

  35. For Win95 users,you will need to
  36. 1. Get "USBSUPP.EXE" from Microsoft, which includes the USB supplement
  37.    and a new memory manager (VMM32.VxD) needed for the AGP DIME (Direct
  38.    Memory Execute) feature. 
  39. 2. Get DirectX 5.0 from Microsoft. DirectX 5.0 is the first DirectX version
  40.    that supports AGP's DIME. 
  41. 3. Get AGP Master (i.e., AGP VGA) Driver from VGA Supplier.
  42. 4. Get "VIAGART.VXD", a virtual device manager which usually will be
  43.    installed in the following installation procedure of the Windows 95 card
  44.    driver.

  46. 2) Distribution Package Contents  
  47.      This distribution floppy is compressed by pkzip. You can uncompress it by 
  48. "pkunzip -d agp356.zip".

  78. 3)  Windows 9x Driver

  81.     ** Driver Installation **

  83.       Method 1: Change Directory to 'setup' subfolder in this installation package. 
  84.     Run "setup -s -f1A:install.iss". It will install the "VIA AGP VxD Driver" 
  85.     automatically on your Windows 9x system. It will copy the driver "viagart.vxd"
  86.     to the '\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\' and set the related registry tree and then reboot 
  87.    the system. The "A:" means that this installation package is under "A:." User 
  88.    can copy the installation package to any folder and then replace
  89.    "A:" with the path of that folder.

  91.       Method 2: Change Directory to 'setup' subfolder in this installation package.
  92.     Run "setup -s -f1A:inoreset.iss". The same effect as Method 1 except the system
  93.     will not reboot.

  95.       Method 3: Click the SETUP.EXE program and select "Install VIA AGP VxD in turbo
  96.     mode" or "Install VIA AGP VxD in normal mode"  button  then it will 
  97.     install the "VIA AGP VxD Driver" automatically on your Windows 9x
  98.     system. It will copy the driver "viagart.vxd" to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ and  set 
  99.     the related registry tree.

  102.     ** Driver Uninstallation **
  103.     ***************************
  104.       Method 1: Youd could run "setup -s -f1A:uninst.iss" to remove the "VIA
  105.     AGP VxD Driver".  It will completely remove the driver from the sytsem. 
  106.     The A: means that the installation package is under "A:.". User can 
  107.     copy then installation package to any folder and then replace 'A:' 
  108.     with the path of that folder.

  110.       Method 2: You could remove the "VIA AGP VxD Driver" by first clicking
  111.     the setup program and then selecting the "Uninstall" button. It will 
  112.     completely remove the driver from the sytsem.

  114. 4) OPK files
  115.      The files under "INF" subfolder are for OPK used.
  116.    
  117. 5) Package Version Identify
  118.  
  119.       You could check this distribution version and release date by using 
  120.     the DATE\TIME displayed by using "dir setup.exe" command, e.g :

  122.       SETUP    EXE        59,392  09-30-99   3:56 SETUP.EXE

  124.     The version number reads as 3:56, which was released on the date of 09/30/99.

  126. 6) Verifying Installation of the Driver

  128.      You could check this distribuation version by using "Windows Explorer". 
  129.    Reading the version of the "Properties" of the file "viagart.vxd" under 
  130.    "Windows\System" folder.

  134. For WinNT users, you will have to wait until Win2000 is released.
